Picture this: you have a terrible no-name guitar with plastic frets (do you even know what a fret is?) and a contact paper finish. You know 2 chords and feel like you're finally ready to learn number 3. You feel out of place at music stores because everyone else knows so much more than you do, but at the same time you love looking around. You broke your laptop trying to balance it on your knee while you were trying to learn a riff. You, my dear, are a sh!tty guitarist.

I know I'm not the only one out there tired of the high tutor fees, the crazy charges you get for taking a class full of 9 year olds who have better instruments than you do because mommy and daddy bought theirs, and you saved for a year to buy your wad of crap.

I believe that we, the sh!tty guitarists of the area should unite. Let's take turns buying those terrible Teach Yourself the Guitar DVDs, eat calorie packed snacks that won't drip on our guitars, drink, and be merry. Who knows, we may even learn a thing or two about playing.

A bit about us:
Our band combines the styles of retro 70's with contemporary hard-rock/heavy. The musical direction is dynamic, heavy, light, atmospheric, melodic, wherever our creativity takes us. The main focus is on writing and recording and playing some shows (once, twice per month). We're all in our mid-30's and we have jobs, families. We're not in it hoping to get signed or tour. Practice is once per week on Thursday nights in our recording studio. We are an original hard rock band in the Lehigh Valley looking for a singer/ lyricist to complete our line-up. Our influences include Clutch, Queens of the Stonage, Quicksand, Foo Fighters, Muse, and a ton of others. I suppose our sound can best be described as melodic hard rock. We try to keep the music interesting with good hooks and timing and tempo changes. That being said, we would like a singer that can keep it interesting as well with clever lyrics, word placement, and vocal patterns. We are looking for a singer more than a screamer. We practice once a week in Alburtis and are looking to play out about 1-2 times a month. While we are dedicated to our music, we are also very laid back guys who like to spend as much time drinking a few beers and hanging out as we do practicing. Age is unimportant, but for the record, we are all late 20's to early 30's. While this may be a new project for everyone in the band, we have all been in bands before and have plenty of stage experience.

Right now we are working on recording some tracks, but unfortunately do not have anything finished to upload anywhere to point you to. It is really best to come and hear it in person anyway. If this sounds like something that you would be interested in, we look forward to hearing from you.

looking for dynamic yet tasteful lead guitar. a bass player who doesn't want o be les claypool. maybe a keyboard player. I'd also be interested in utilizing electronic elements if anyone with the capabilities would be interested. I can sing and have sung my own songs in the past but I might be interested in a vocalist if they were really good. A lyricist would be cool too, even if thats all you do. I have a drummer that I play with. I would like to practice once a week. More if possible. For me, music is a serious hobby. I have a wife, a kid and a job. But I would like to be able to take a band as far as I can within the confines of my daily routine.

The music that I like and write is very diverse. It could be generally categorized by calling it a heavyish indie rock. I've been known to write a few oddball dance tunes or a quirky math rock song here and there. A bit punky. Just a smidgen of metal, no more than say the Foo Fighters or Queens of the Stone Age. I'm a huge fan of all of Frank Blacks projects, David Bowie, Elliot Smith, At The Drive In, Ben Folds, The Beatles, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Built To Spill, Outkast, Prince, Sonic Youth, Sleater Kinney etc..... just a few off of the top of my head.

I'm thinking that I would like to start off playing covers with people to brush the cob webs off my chops. Slowly i'd like to work in originals. Basically just pick covers that we like without worrying if anybody else knows them. So we could get shows playing cover songs at first and then work in new material. But I'm open to suggestions.

I am looking for various band members to work in what I would call an experimental metal band. I am specifically looking to take modern day metalcore (and similar types of music) and mix them together with different genres of music (particularly more aggressive forms of metal), as well as with electronica and symphonic music. I am a multi-instrumentalist and have been in two bands, however they have both disbanded and I am basically left creating music by myself. I would like to change that and begin working on more music with other people.

A little about myself:

-I am 19 years old, am going to college, and work.
-I play guitar, bass, synths (and any thing related to the keys), and can program various orchestra parts and drums for recordings and samples. I also do my own vocals on my own songs.
-I have pretty decent gear. For recording purposes I am all set. There would be little need to really pay for a recording studio as my recording equipment is fairly effective. The only real issue I have is with my mic, which is not that bad and gets the job done; however its not the epitome of mics. That said, I get better quality than most local bands paying money for recording studio usage.
-My live gear is also pretty good. I have a couple guitars, some pedals, and a nice amp. I do not have a half stack, but I don't think its really necessary to have one either.

What I need for this project:

-Another guitarist (please be at least at an intermediate level, this includes being able to do some basic sweep picking, tremelo picking, and various other styles). I do not expect you to be the best guitarist on the planet, but this project will not be able to function if the other guitarist is incapable of playing at least at my standard. I typically do not write to complex or technical songs, but basic guitar work is necessary.
-A bassist. For the most part you would be doing rhythm keeping (as that is what a bassists job really is to do), however I am very open to people having the ability to do what they want in a song (to a degree). Bass licks and bass solos are acceptable. Be able to play effectively
-A drummer (this is more of a long term position, as I will need to get some practice space).
-A synth player. In terms of live playing, I would really like a synth player who is familiar with moving around a keyboard.
-A vocalist. I would preference someone who could scream really well, more in the mid-range. I do not really want a emo/screamo type of vocalist. I would like more aggressive styles of vocals to come to the table. Clean vocals would also be nice, however they are not necessary.

What I expect from you:

-Have a decent amount of money and be willing to part with it to a degree for the band. It be best if you are working, however this is not necessary.
-I would preference you be between 16 and 30 years old. If you are mature for your age, maybe a little younger.
-I would also preference that you have a car or mode of transportation, however this is not necessary if you are willing to help me out with paying for gas to pick you up and shit.

I'm 18, male, high tenor voice part. I'd love to start a band from the ground up, so I need everything but the vox. Something with an alternative sound is preferable-- Fall Out Boy, Saving Aimee, Paramore, and Hey Monday are some good examples of what I want to steer towards soundwise but I have a theater background and I love more theatrical things as well.
