Here is a well done mechanical and cosmetic restoration of a rare and desirable mid century classic. The Packard 400 was the fastest car in America in 1955 as shown by the period ad in the photos. It completed a 25,000 test at an average speed of 104 miles per hour. This was a luxury car with power steering, brakes, windows, seats, auto transmission, all of which are working. The 250 horsepower V-8 was rebuilt during the restoration and moves the car surprisingly fast for a car of nearly 5000 pounds. It is quiet with just a touch of rumble from the dual " Hollywood" mufflers & resonators. The maroon paint is a correct factory color and was well executed The interior was done in the original factory pattern and shows well.
New parts include a power steering ram, power steering pump, 4 radial whitewalls, generator, voltage regulator, battery & heater box. You will be warm in this car.
As you can see from the photos the design is classic mid century and if this is your thing you will love this car. I would estimate over $50,000 was spent on the original restoration and I've spent another $15,000 keeping it in good shape. Parts are available and affordable through Max Meritt and Kantor, but there is not much this car needs. Extra parts too. If you want something few people have which looks good and runs even better for a fraction of what was spent to bring it back check this out
