‘Golden Oyster' Tradescantia House Plant - $4 (Allentown, PA 18103)

This houseplant has multiple rooted cuttings
in one pot, five growing tips. Common name
is “Moses in the Cradle”.
Latin name is Tradescantia spathacea, cultivar
‘Golden Oyster”. It is a clumping, upward
growing plant which thrives with medium to
high light and restrained watering in winter.
Insufficient light will result in stretched stems.
Bright light (such as fluorescent light fixtures)
will bring out pink tones. Lower light will bring
out the more golden colors shown in the last photo.
Will not become too tall, instead will fill in the pot
with multiples of itself. Can be propagated via
cuttings in water.
Vivid foliage is eye catching. Leaf backs develop
a purplish tone. Related to the trailing Purple Heart
but Golden Oyster has a more compact growth
habit.
