Martin OMC-18 Laurence Juber - $2,750 (Barto PA)

condition: good
make / manufacturer: Martin
model name / number: OMC-18
A Martin OMC-18 Laurence Juber signature model, made in 2007 and very lightly used. It caught my eye for its understated looks; lack of a pick guard (acknowledging its being built for fingerstyle players); mahogany back and sides, for a more muted tone than with rosewood; the cutaway; and comfy body size.

It has a lot of volume, bass through treble, considerably more than my 0000. Less boomy than a dred. But-- after few minutes, I realized it wasn’t a good fit for me, literally, with my small hands and somewhat cramped reach because of a ligament syndrome. I don’t see this listed in the specs, but the neck does become wider than other Martins as it approaches the bridge. I will stick with my 0000.

Minimal wear, with some dipping in the first three frets along the B string. No dishing of the ebony fretboard. Minor (and I would say superficial) dents and swirls, noticeable only upon close examination. No swipes across the top with a pick. The guitar at one time was been fitted with an internal pickup by the previous owner; you still can see a strip of Velcro inside the body if you inspect closely.

Signed inside by Laurence Juber, and numbered. I just bought a book of his Beatles arrangements for fingerstyle and look forward to getting into them..

With the original hardshell Martin TKL case in excellent condition, and key.
