What do all those knobs on my synth do? I grew up as a synth player in the late 70's/early eighties. It wasn't long before I realized I enjoyed programming them as much if not more than playing them. Before I knew it I had a decent little career programming analog synths for studio's, music stores, and other keyboard players. However, it's over 40 years later, and I'd like to pass some of this knowledge on. What I would be teaching you is analog synthesis. What does an oscillator do? What is the difference between a low pass and a high pass filter? What does an envelope generator do? How about a modulation generator? Does sample and hold have any other use other than ELP's yarn evil 9 pt 2? Once you learn all this we'll move on to how do you listen to whatever sound is in your head or your favorite cd and recreate it logically rather than randomly turn knobs. We'll start learning on a vintage ms20 because of the way they laid it out, and then we'll work with what you play. If this is something you'd be interested in get in touch. We'd do it in my smoke free studio in Bethlehem, Pa.
