Working IBM Thinkpad R51e from early 2000s.
Running 32-bit Windows XP Professional version 2002, Service Pack 3
CPU: Intel Pentium M running at 1.73 GHz
RAM: 898 MB, "Physical Address Extension"
Graphics: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series (Integrated on the motherboard)
Display: 15 inch running @ 1280 x 1024
HDD: Seagate ST980815A 80Gb 5400 RPM
Connectivity: 2xUSB-A, PCMCIA slot, ethernet, VGA, CD/DVD, microphone/audio, RS-232, wifi.
We didn't test any of these except for the USB ports which work.
Power: The battery is included, but I'm sure it doesn't work at all. The AC adapter/charger works fine to run the machine.
Software: Microsoft Office 2003 (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Access, Outlook, Publisher). Also has old versions of Internet Explorer and Chrome (but of course these are not exactly safe anymore).
It has a 'pointing stick' or joystick instead of a trackpad and works with a USB mouse.
This is a Thinkpad from when they were made by/for IBM. It is a rock-solid business laptop from the era and weighs a ton. It might make a nice machine for light retro-gaming, or for someone who needs an XP computer to run other old (32 bit) software.
Problems: 1. We didn't open it up, but you can see copious amounts of dust under some keys. It probably needs a good cleaning inside. 2. There is a hole on the front edge around one of the latch points for the screen. This doesn't affect functionality. See photo.
